Old Adelaide Gaol

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Old Adelaide Gaol

With 45 people executed and the deaths of numerous other prisoners due to disease etc it is not hard to believe the gaol is haunted. Many people have witnessed seeing apparitions of now deceased prisoners, hearing disembodied voices, the feeling of being watched or touched, inanimate objects moving on their own accord and much much more.

  1. I visited the old Adelaide gaol for Halloween trick or treat trail during the day in 2019 with my three young kids. I have never been a believer in the paranormal but after looking into the Elizabeth Wilcock cell I felt light headed and my head started spinning almost instantly I felt sick and really sad feeling came over me I had to sit down for a few minutes till the feeling passed I felt like I was being watched but it wasn’t until I got home that I googled who Elizabeth Wilcock was and found out she was the only female prisoner to be hung in this prison and she had been a victim of domestic violence which was pretty similar to my past. I didn’t see anything, I didn’t hear anything I wasn’t really expecting to see anything paranormal as I said I’m not a “believer” but that was something that definitely caught me off guard and couldn’t explain why I had felt like this.
