  1. The Craig home at the intersection of Redwood Valley Rd and Rustic Rd. in Stockbridge seems to be a hotbed of paranormal activity. The late Mr. and Mrs. Craig reported many strange events in their home over the years. The picturesque home overlooks a large fishing pond which seems to be the source of the activity. In an interview before his death, Mr. Craig told me that one evening he saw a large shape, something like a large eel, extending out of the water which seemed to be feeding on the shore. He took several shots at it with his pistol which seemed to have no effect. He slowly approached the apparition and it vanished. On another occasion he and his wife heard noises coming from their kitchen. They went to investigate and found the dishes floating around the room. “I taught high school ROTC for many years,” said Mr. Craig. I’m a ‘both feet on the ground’ kind of guy. I don’t go in for this spooky stuff but I know what I saw.” Directly across the street on Rustic Rd. there was once a nursery with greenhouses and a large barn. The owners wife commuted suicide in the barn which was subsequently torn down. A Mr Frank Smith bought the farmhouse at 219 where the barn had stood in the back yard. He reported that the family had many problems with the house which came to a climax on a stormy night in 1976 when the wind blew an oak tree onto the house knocking it off its foundation. Mr. Smith had every board and stone hauled away, graded 1 foot of soil from the property and had it hauled off, and built the house that is presently on the property.
