Mitre Tavern

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Mitre Tavern

This historic tavern and steakhouse provides fine food, a great atmosphere and even a resident ghost. It is said that the mistress of a prominent gentleman known as Connie Waugh has been seen standing on the balcony in an old-fashioned white dress. There are other reports of strange lights that float in and out of various rooms of the establishment, but the origin of this particular haunting is unknown.

  1. Definitely had a paranormal experience here at the Mitre. After a massive night of fine wine and glorious steaks upstairs (we stay for hours, usually til closing time), a mate and I were laughing loudly as we were coming down the stairs and a very loud annoyed disembodied knock stopped us in our tracks. you know, the kinda annoyed knock parents do to quiten their children. We looked to our left and saw two bar staff cleaning and the room to our right was empty. We went outside the doors to check the laneway down the side and no one was there. As a paranormal investigator you gotta try and debunk your experiences. This was definitley an annoyed disembodied knock. I’d love to do an overnight investigation there.
