Marrero's Guest Mansion

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Marrero's Guest Mansion

Marrero’s Guest Mansion is said to be home to a ghost named Enriquetta, the love of well-known cigar maker Francisco Marrero, who built the mansion for her in 1889. Francisco died while on a business trip, and Enriquetta was shocked when another woman claiming to be Francisco’s wife arrived to claim the mansion. Apparently the Cuban woman was Francisco’s first wife, and they had never divorced. Enriquetta and the 8 children she had with Francicso were forced out of their mansion. But over the years, Enriquetta’s spirit has been making itself known at the mansion, proof that she never really left. Witnesses say the kindly ghost and her children can be seen and heard here, especially in Rooms 17, 18, and 23. Room 18 was said to be Enriquetta’s bedroom; a mysterious scent of lavender has been detected by some guests here.

    1. We are staying in room 17 on our honeymoon. Constantly hearing kids laughing and playing next door. No guest or cleaning crew to be seen.

    2. My daughter and I were on a Ghost Tour a couple of years ago. We had heat sensors and didn’t really believe they were anything more than toys. Mine was registering 10degrees difference in temp on a spot on the porch so my daughter started taking rapid pictures with her phone. Later we discovered what we think is Enriquetta and one of her children in some of the photos

    3. The white fence next to the Mansion has an old photograph mounted in a frame that is recessed into the fence. If you stare at that photo- you will be transfixed by their ghoulish eyes and faces. Really weird.

    4. On our visit to this wonderful Inn. There was a very bad thunderstorm. I awoke to a woman’s voice humming a soothing tune No one around.
