Marfa Lights

You are here Home  > Ghost Lights >  Marfa Lights

Near U.S. Route 67, these unexplained lights have been seen for decades, and were first reported in a 1957 magazine. Investigators from the University of Texas at Dallas studied and monitored the site for 4 days in 2004, and came to the conclusion that the famous lights are actually reflected vehicle headlights.

    1. I’ve seen the lights and there is no way they are reflections of headlights. The lights have been seen and documented long before cars even existed.

    2. Yes I have also seen the Marfa lights. Perhaps you have to be open-minded. When I saw them they bobbled and darted and came closer and closer. I do know of a legend that Clayton Williams elderly father was looking for a lost calf one afternoon on his large ranch there and it quickly became dark so he decided to just follow the cattle trail back to the house. He saw the Marfa lights and was scared. He was cold and ducked inside of a slight cave opening or indenture and fell asleep and when he woke up he stood up to see that he had not been on a cattle path but was dangerously near a steep drop-off.

    3. I was there in August of 2015. That night I arrived just before sunset. There were about 15 other people there as well. We saw well over 100 different lights that night. A couple that was there mentioned they had been there a for several nights in a row, a couple of months before with a research team from a university and had not seen any at all. As a rational person, I thought about the reflected headlight theory, but wouldn’t tail lights be reflected as well? The lights appeared to be on the ground, on the far off mountains and also half way up the mountains. It was very interesting. There is a great viewing area with plenty of parking.
