This beautiful castle-like location is said to be haunted by Jack Pfeiffer, a former bellhop who got in with gangsters and began laudering money. He was arrested and, fearful of going to prison, killed himself by poisoning in his jail cell. Jack’s ghost enjoys ladies, drinking and partying, and can often be found in ladies’ restrooms. He especially likes the third floor. Alcohol often goes missing or bottles are tipped over, and apparitions show up in photographs of parties and events here. The ghosts are thought to be Jack and some of his friends from the afterlife.

Jack Peiffer was never a bellhop. He was in fact the owner of a well known St. Paul “speak-easy” called the Hollyhocks. It continued to operate as a legal nightclub after the repeal of prohibition. Peiffer was very connected with the gangsters of St. Paul, and he did die in his jail cell of poisoning. Not everyone believes it was suicide however. His wife claimed that he never would have killed himself, and the his death must have been a murder.

  2. I had my senior prom there and they took our photos on the 3rd floor. There is definitely someone there! Took me 4 years to come across this because i couldnt make sense of what i felt feeling. Like prying eyes from near the stairs but no one was ever there!

  3. I went to school at the Landmark and it was definitely eerie at times. In the third floor women’s bathroom there was definitely a weird energy. You’d get that prickly feeling. The elevator seemed haunted. If I was in it alone, I would get that same creepy feeling. Almost like someone was standing next to me. The elevator doors would often open on theit own without anyone needing to push a button to call it.

  4. I just saw a ghost on the 3rd floor. Literally. I’m at a wedding. Went for a walk. Saw a ghost. Mind blown. No one believes me… little do they know!

  5. I’ve heard that the old-style elevator would descend without being summoned, opening up to an empty cage. Cleaning crews would occasionally see people walking on an upper promenade ( I believe the 3rd floor) when the building was closed and empty (or not!). They always proceed to the winding grand staircase and begin descending, but never reach the bottom where staff or security are waiting to confront them! Also, on a somewhat regular basis, security is summoned when staff hear after-hours trespassers in locked offices that once were a judge’s chambers ( I believe this is also on the 3rd floor). When security arrives and unlocks the door, all they find is an empty office with the lights left on!

  7. Hi guys, I also had a paranormal experience here. This castle is full of new emotions. The story you’ve described about a haunted location with a ghost named Jack Pfeiffer and his apparitions might not seem directly related to app development at first glance. I think that it’s great to have a social media app nowadays to share emotions, experiences, and creative stories like this can serve as inspiration for developing various types of mobile social app applications https://solveit.dev/blog/how-to-make-a-social-media-app or augmented reality (AR) applications. I also think you can get various sources of inspiration for developing unique and engaging mobile applications that cater to a wide range of interests and audiences.
