Jefferson Davis Hospital - Elder Street Artists Lofts

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Jefferson Davis Hospital - Elder Street Artists Lofts

Elder Street Artists Lofts, formerly the Jefferson Davis Hospital, is said to be haunted by deceased hospital patients. The activity here is said to stem from the fact that the site was built over an 1800s cemetery where about 3,000 Civil War and yellow fever victims were buried. Before the site was turned into a loft complex, witnesses described shadowy forms, a feeling of being watched, and the scent of sterilzation solutions. It is unclear whether the spirits have lingered to haunt the lofts.

    1. I was actually born at this hospital on March 27, 1977. I wonder if that may be part of the reason why I am the way I am…”gifted”…so to speak.
