At this mansion where Mayor A.C. Houghton and his family lived, a ghostly chauffeur lingers. He reportedly committed suicide after getting in a car accident that claimed the lives of Mrs. Houghton and their only daughter. The site has been converted into a Masonic temple and has been featured on the TV show Ghost Adventures.

    1. There is some incorrect information in this article. The accident claimed the lives of the Houghton’s daughter and her best friend, and 11 days later it claimed the life of Mr. Houghton himself. The driver of the car who had worked for the Houghtons for a long time, did commit suicide. Mrs. Houghton did not die in the accident. In fact, Mrs. Houghton was not in the car at all. For whatever reason..Mrs. Houghton did not go for that fateful ride that day. Mrs. Houghton stayed home..thus avoiding being involved in that horrific accident.
