Governor Calvert House

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Governor Calvert House

This elegant old-fashioned hotel was formerly the residence of the state governor, and is rumoured to be haunted. Guests and staff have reportedly encountered the apparition of a man in period clothing, the spirit of a woman who committed suicide during the 1940’s and a male presence known as ‘Dominic’.

  1. My husband and I stayed at Governor Calvert House several years ago. While my husband was out running an errand, the TV came on 3 times and I kept turning it off. After the 3rd time, I said” ok, you have my attention now”. It didn’t come back on! When we checked out, I told the desk clerk what happened. She was pretty excited!

  2. I stayed here one night with my husband, while we were sleeping the TV came on and we jumped out of bed scared! My husband turned it off, I thought we accidentally turned it on but the tv remote was in front of the TV. We went back to sleep and it happened again, needless to say I did not sleep all night!!! It was so frightening. I asked the clerk the next morning if the place was haunted and he said, yes, we have one that likes to walk on the hallways and another one that likes to turn the TV on! Jeez, never coming back to sleep there! It was too scary!!!
