Floor and Decor

Although it looks like any other cookie-cutter shopping plaza building, this spot has an interesting “haunted” history. This site was once the home to “Colonial Plaza,” one of Orlando’s earliest shopping malls. It fell into decline in the 1970s and was eventually razed in 1995 – all except the building that now houses “Floor and Decor.” The story from Thomas Cook in “Orlando’s Historic Haunts” is that the building was set for demolition, but when the foreman made one last pass through the area he swore he heard voices pleading with him not to destroy their home. Whether for that reason or something else, the building remained standing, and was repurposed instead.

  1. Orbs or some sort of disturbing presence on the second floor of Floor and Decor…..(which has a bad history behind it)….It was pitch black…..I felt something move to the right of my face, then to the left…..this was taken near the elevator shaft where, according to what I have heard from the stories from people I have talked to, two people have died there in the past…..I will definitely be going back to get more pictures soon!!

  2. While going to roof to work I heard a young girls laugh I looked around thinking it was a coworker on a speaker phone. Turns out he was on the roof. No one on second floor.

  3. We used to maintain the air conditioning units up on the second floor. It was definitely a eerie place but never had any paranormal experience but it sure brought back memories of when I used to go there as a kid. I explored that whole area up there by flashlight. I love it.

Closing the Floor & Decor one night as I was the manager only one in the building was me and my daughter. I was in an office counting money and making a safe drop. My daughter was in the break room and decided to venture out in to the main showroom see people walking around like we were open turned around and they were all gone. I heard banging on the windows and voices at times. My daughter was ver disturbed by the event.
