Dairy Queen

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Dairy Queen

According to the rumor mill, the owner of the bar that once stood where Dairy Queen is now found the building’s haunting to be too much of a trial, so he sold it. Now, witnesses say unexplained noises and flickering lights are not uncommon, and the equipment will sometimes act up and spew ice cream.

  1. I used to work at both the Appleton Dairy Queen stores from 2005-2011, alternating shifts between Oneida street and Richmond. I’m not too sure about the details of which building is haunted but I can say I’ve experienced strange things at both locations.
I would be working with one or two other individuals and would find myself alone in the basements or back of the stores restocking when lights would go completely out or flicker. I’ve had feelings of chills and feelings of being watched at both stores while I was alone, thus prompting me to fly up the stares or back to my fellow employees only to find out they had not caused the strange events. On one occasion I was in the basement of Oneida street dq at night after my managers had left. They had a money counter in a storage/office room. They usually kept it locked but that night the door was left unlocked and open. The light was off so I went over to close the door and as I the door clicked shut I heard the money counter start up and I saw the light flick on through the crack on the bottom of the door which startled me. As I backed away in silent fear the machine stopped and the light went off again, all within a matter of maybe 45 seconds. Again I retreated back up the stairs.
Over time I started getting used to the strange occurrences and my manager and the stores owner maintained that they used to be haunted but were no longer… I know what I saw and I still believe something is there. Ask around and maybe you’ll hear some intriguing and creepy stories or accounts.

  2. I used to live in Appleton and my family would always go to that dairy queen. I never experienced anything weird or paranormal and I never even knew about it being haunted or being a bar!

  3. My uncle owned the bar “The Cage” that was next to the DQ on Oneida St. He was always complaining about DQ and he ended up killing himself while going thru a divorce. Ever since I heard of this haunting, I really think he might be part of it.

  4. I’ve worked there for over twenty years, and I agree it’s possible it could be haunted. I have heard many strange things I could not explain. But then again, I thought maybe someone was just playing a practical joke on me!
