Colonial Park Cemetery

You are here Home  > Cemeteries >  Colonial Park Cemetery

This 6-acre cemetery holds 9,000 graves and was established in 1750. It was the area’s primary public cemetery through 1853. Folks who visit here have seen various apparitions, including a floating couple.

There are claims that the small park near the south gate of the cemetery was an old dueling ground, and that a famed child killer (Rene Asche Rondolier) may also haunt the grounds.

  1. Great place! Not so scary in the day time but on a visit here at night my camera would only produce blurry pictures. Kinda strange……The locals can tell you awesome stories about this place, all you have to do is ask….many people were jogging and walking dogs in the area when I went there and they were always more than happy to share stories.

  2. I know in that cemetery there is an apparition of a little kid that appears. It is said that sometimes when you walk through the graveyard, you might be able to feel the kid holding your hand.

We took our mini dachshund on a ghost tour with us, and when we got to Colonial Park he stuck his nose through the fence. He must have stared into that dark cemetery for about 15 minutes. He kept turning his head every now and then as if he were looking at something, and he did not respond when we said his name. No where else on the tour did he act like this. The photo was from March 2019 – not the date posted on the picture.

  4. Me and my team have been a couple times, but the last time we went, I was filming and caught a little child’s laughter on my camera. No children were anywhere near us at that moment.

  5. When I lived in Savannah I would walk through this graveyard and hang out on the playground occasionally (whenever it was empty). I once felt a hand on my shoulder there, though it was probably an illusion.
