Buck Hill

You are here Home  > Ghost Lights >  Buck Hill

Buck Hill has a legend about a logger’s family during the Depression. The daughter vanished one night while chasing the pet dog, who had run off. Theh logger searched for her and eventually went mad. His ghost still searches for her, and his lantern is seen as ghost lights in the area. The balls of light, seen at close range, are baseball-size white, amber or green lights that will occasionally flare up to much larger.

  1. Hello, my name is Dave , I am a tree marker working in the Forest industry, Renfrew & nippissing counties. My wife, brother in law and his girlfriend drove up to Buck Hill On February 18th, arrived there around 10 pm. We turned the pick up around facing down hill, within 5 minutes My Brother in laws girlfriend, observed a waving dim amber light in the distance. As time went on we all saw the light, as it were….it approached our vehicle slowly and as it intensified in brightness we decided to leave as we were afraid and in a bit of shock!! Very fascinating and real!!
