Local legend tells of a group of boy scouts that were murdered along this road. While there is no evidence of this actually happening, people still report seeing disembodied faces as well as hearing voices when they travel along this road.

  1. This is not a true story. I have went through local records and can find no information about a boy scout troop that was murdered. others say they were caught in a forest fire. there is no proof of this happening either.

  2. A tall tale that never gets old, but there’s no facts to back it up. It’s true that the Boy Scouts of America once owned the land around the road, thus the name, but the proposed camp was never built, and no boy scouts were present during that time- let alone killed in the area. It is a spooky enough road, especially with it’s close proximity to the Wisconsin river kicking up a good deal of fog and mist when the weather is right, but if you’re looking for ghosts, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

As an aside, as the area’s notoriety has made the place a hot spot for teens looking for cheap thrills, there is a copious amount of trash, broken glass, and other debris. As could be expected, the neighbors are not terribly fond of late night visitors, so if you do drive down this way, expect that someone with the Portage County Sheriff will be out to see you in no time at all.
