Bishop's Palace

The Bishop’s Palace was finished in 1893, and was survived the Great Hurricane of 1900. Rumour has it the protective former owner, Walter Gresham, still haunts the place, and has been known to appear during freak weather events. Witnesses say his spirit appears agitated, pacing back and forth across the front porch.

  1. The young girl working behind the counter when we arrived told us when we arrived that she didn’t believe in any ghosts because she had never experienced anything of the sort or had she known any other workers who had. None the less, I took many pictures of the porch windows to see if Mr. Gresham would appear in any of them. I felt no ghostly experience and thought it a quite pleasant tour. Afterwards I looked at my pics and found this. This is honestly odd because the dress is not something an average person would wear today. When I zoom in the true eeriness begins.

One summer night, several years ago, I was driving by at about 1:00 a.m., I was telling my friend about the place as we were passing by. The entire place was dark. but as we passed we saw a candle moving inside the window by the porch. Having been a fire fighter for a number of years, I was alarmed that the place was catching fire. We turned around and went back to investigate, but could not see the candle light any longer. We returned the next day to take the tour, to check things out further but found nothing.

My wife and I glanced in the windows under the front staircase entering the gift shop. My phone was set to a night vision setting, so no flash. I snapped a few photos with my phone placed against the glass on the door looking in. What we caught in this photo immediately send chills down our spines. We went back for a tour the next morning and showed the staff our photo.
