Beth Elohim Cemetery
Georgetown, SC · Cemeteries
Tales told about this, the second oldest Jewish cemetery in the state, center around best friends Pauline Moses and Eliza Munnerlyn. The two girls had planned to be married on the same day at the same time, but in different locations. However, both the girls caught yellow fever and died a few days before their weddings, and since then, girls' laughter has been heard coming from this cemetery. Pauline was buried here, and Eliza was buried at the Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church across the street.
