Amargosa Opera House and Hotel

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Amargosa Opera House and Hotel

If you wish to visit the haunted opera house you should be aware that it is apparently only open for very brief periods of time and there are no operating tours. Apparently it is rarely open except during performances done by the 70+ year old ballet dancer who owns the hotel. Reports of what exactly haunts the hotel are vague and not well defined, it is merely rumored to be haunted.

    1. Yes, it is haunted. My team investigated it in 2014 and got a lot of evidence including orbs in photos, hits on the spirit box and ovilus. It could use a renovation but it’s well worth spending the night there.

    2. Yes, Susan, very true. I know Marta quite well and have visited the hotel areas that are haunted. I can’t say whether the Opera House is haunted but the hotel is most definitely! One evening I tried to stay the night in one of the closed rooms in the old section of the hotel but the experience was too traumatic, so I left. Personally, I think the uninitiated should not mess with this place as it can get way too scary very quickly.

    3. My cousin and I have investigated the hotel a couple times and found it to be quietly haunted. The spirits are there, but we are not interested in provoking activity. We encountered spirits in the rooms that just wanted to say hello, we saw a shadow figure outside in the porch area, and my cousin was attacked in a dream.

Now that Marta has passed, the hotel has no interest in promoting “the ghost experience.” Not hard to understand given how they have been treated by popular television shows and less-ethical investigators. As Investigator Jay Yates is fond of saying, “Respect the Dead!”

      It’s a lovely hotel,
