Alleghany County Courthouse - Sparta, NC

Built in 1933, the historic courthouse was constructed to replace the original edifice which was destroyed by the 'Big Fire of 1932'. Visitors to the building nowadays have reported hearing disembodied footsteps on the staircase and the unexplained sound of whistling near the decommissioned prison cells.
