Lincoln Park Gully is believed to be haunted by the ghosts of Dutch soldiers and Mahican warriors who planned to attach the Mohawks, but were ambushed by the Mohawks instead. One grisly tale about the battle relates that a Dutch soldier was burned alive, and his leg and arm were kept by the Mohawks as a sort of trophy. Witnesses say to this day the victims’ ghostly figures glide through the area in broad daylight, and some witnesses reported a spooky feeling of being watched.

I have evp’s. My husband and I like history. I am a writer and we were video taping and we caught voices in video. We are both inexperienced with cell phones, technology and would not even know how to add something so by no means is this fake. It is un-explainable to us. Also caught are sounds of loud rushing water that is not present.
The Gully had been the location of one of the five creeks in Albany; part of the creek is now Washington Park Lake. I lived on Leonard Place for five years. Leonard Place runs off of Delaware Ave. and I used to walk through the Gully almost daily and take photographs. It’s a beautiful, woodsy area, quiet and peaceful. The creek is now underneath and you can hear the water flowing. When there was a winter thaw and when the snow melted in late March-early April, the Gully was too muddy to walk through. It’s worth going to see. There are parking places on Leonard Place.
