Billy's Bar and Grill

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Billy's Bar and Grill

Housed in a building that was a former brothel, the restaurant is said to be home to the spirits of some of the former brothel’s staff. As local legends go, either some brothel patrons killed madam Mrs. Jackson and stole the women’s money, or Mrs. Jackson hanged herself from a third-floor chandelier after losing the hotel. Witnesses say pictures move by themselves and apparitions have been seen upstairs.

  1. My parents said no one is aloud upstairs because of building code. The top floors are not stable. The building has a lot of history, but so does Anoka in general. The old highschool near mainstreet is also said to be haunted.

  2. This was about 14 years ago. My future wife and I were drinking with friends at the bar Serums. We were chilling up on the roof top patio drinking, talking, smoking and such. I wandered away from our group and looked across the street. There was a very beautiful woman looking at me from across the street up in one of the third story windows. I nodded at her and she gave me a wave. I was really impressed with the way she was dressed. Very old style. Early 1900s. I went to point her out to my group but she was gone and the light was turned out. So I went and started to tell them about what I saw. An elderly gentleman was listening to me talk and walked up to me and said, “ I think you’ve just seen the Lady.” And proceeded to tell me the history of the place. My group was a little freaked out. I was exhilarated. I had just seen a ghost. And she waved at me.
