Atkinson County Courthouse

This 1920’s courthouse is haunted, according to superstitious folk. The clock tower was the site of the execution of an innocent man, who vowed to wreak havoc on those who had unfairly punished him. Ever since, according to local lore, the clock won’t keep correct time no matter how many times it is changed, and footsteps are heard in the vicinity of the clock on the anniversary of his death.
