Woodland Hospital

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Woodland Hospital

Although this hospital is now closed and operates a geriatric-psych ward, employees tell tales of “Homer” a ghost who roamsthe halls. He is known to flush toilets, independently operate ice machines and brush past people leaving them with chills. Both staff and patients of this former hospital have stories about seeing a dark “form” moving through the hallways.

  1. I use to know a guy who worked here he once tolled me a story about a ghost and how scary it was….I would love to visit but they are turning it into a bank I believe

  2. I worked there about ten years ago and I never heard any ghost stories and never experienced anything paranormal. The abandoned maternity ward was pretty creepy to go into and the psychiatric ward was creepy also and it is still in operation.

  3. i worked there yes homer is real. there were parts of the building they kept locked. he stayed in these most of the time.he visited the kitchen alot. the hallway near er and cafeteria i think housed many spirits,,this was real and sure they are still there…the question now do the mental people talk to them?

  4. During a stay here as a child I saw a man’s figure while waiting on a tech to finish developing my x-rays. When I later told my mother what I saw she asked the tech if anyone else had came into the room during that time. They told her no one else had came in the room, and I was probably just delirious. Hmm maybe I was right after all?

  5. I was there in the waiting room next to the ccu unit one night as my grandma was in the unit an kept hearing doors slam an seen a dark shadow in the hall way got up to look and not a soul anywhere in sight. A few days later they put my grandma in a regular room left of nurses station an the double doors would slam on there on

  6. I was a patient there this week and something was tugging on my blanket and it felt like someone was sitting on my bed. But it didn’t feel creepy all the time.

    • All of the older Hospitals in Alabama are haunted. As a local and somebody who was raised there I could tell you everything about haunted places. I know a lot about downtown Huntsville. Have you ever been to the Surgery Center? The old area of the building is on a Native American burial ground. My mother used to work in it and something weird would happen when she worked in the older building. When someone told her about the haunting for the first time she was in one of the elevators and it stopped, then fell, went back up. and the doors stayed shut for a few minutes.
