Two surfer ghosts are reported here. Bob Simmons, known for redesigning the surfboard to its current form, died while catching some waves. Chris O’Rourke, another surfer, died of cancer and was scattered in the ocean. Both of them are seen or felt surfing, usually giving off a very pleasant feeling.

  1. I was at Chris O’Rourke’s memorial at Windansea. When the small handful of friends paddled out to scatter Chris’ ashes, a little ‘hole’ opened up in the clouds above them. It had been overcast and flat all day, but suddenly directly above the surfers, the sun was shining. The waves picked up in that moment, and one of the surfers (I think his name was Smitty) actually got tubed momentarily. It was a beautiful moment.
