Vinoy Hotel

Now owned by Marriott, the Vinoy Hotel is a favorite place for major league baseballers to stay while in town. Several claim to have seen a man in a top hat and long coat standing over their bed. One claims to have felt like someone pressed on his back while he was sleeping. No word on why this only seems to happen to the MLB players… maybe he’s a Rays fan?

    1. I stayed at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort just over a year ago and experienced something paranormal. My experience wasn’t like what was posted above. Mine was an angry spirit of some sort. It was my second night and I was traveling alone. I woke up in the middle of night to a very dark, angry figure standing over me. I couldn’t move. It was standing beside the bed and, although I can’t remember it making any noise, it did appear to be very dark and angry and very terrifying. All I could do was close my eyes and pray for it to leave, which it did. For some reason today, I decided to “google” if this hotel was haunted in anyway and came across this information! Getting a little frightened just remembering my experience!

    2. It has been said no one is allowed to go up to the tower. Some because the guest play around or is it because someone from the past watches over the property. Jj

    3. Just woke up from a terrifying night here. It’s a beautiful hotel and I didn’t feel any sort of a presence or uneasy feeling until the evening. I was asleep for a about 45 min when I work up feeling like someone was in the room. Opened my eyes to a man standing over my bed staring at me. I literally punched at him because I thought there was a man in my room! He disappeared within seconds and all night I listened to the door knob wiggling like someone was trying to break in and then it would sound like a key was unlocking the door but I had the block on it and it never actually opened. I was excited to hear the hotel was haunted but last night literally scared the crap out of me and I didn’t get any sleep at all. After looking at the history, it sounds like the man standing over the bed is a recurring experience. The figure I saw did not have a top hat nor was a dark figure. More of a bright figure and it did not seem tall… almost like is it was a child but the face was that of a mature man.
