Vernon Inn was built around 1833 by John Vandegriff, and it is rumored to be haunted. Witnesses say lights come on and off, doors open and close, and apparitions and shadows have been seen. Ghost investigators turned up many orbs in photographs as well as EVPs of a child’s voice.

    1. Our S.M.A.R.T team has done several investigations there and have had numerous cognitive, intelligent EVP’s recorded. We also have video of mists and anomalies which have defied our explanation. Our group has identified at least five different conscious energies that have an ability to communicate. A little girl – who is very giggly and somewhat mischievous but very aware of people in her surroundings. A former cook who is brash, sarcastic and sometimes vulgar. A more polite, male and (we believe) his wife who tend to be very forthcoming with information when asked questions and lastly – a very private secluded energy that resides in the basement and DOES NOT like to be bothered at all.
