The Mira Theatre Guild

You are here Home  > Theaters >  The Mira Theatre Guild

Dating back to 1918, the historic theatre was formerly a schoolhouse for the children of workers at a nearby naval shipyard. During World War II, the building was converted for its use today, and has been entertaining the residents of the town for over fifty years. Theatre patrons and actors believe the building may be haunted, and have told stories of hearing strange whispers in the basement, as well seeing lights being turned on and off by unseen hands. The Green Room of the establishment is particularly haunted, with visitors reportedly being touched by unseen hands and feeling sharp temperature drops.

  1. I was just recently (7-30-2021) given a tour of the Mira theatre. I am a local promoter and was looking for another venue besides the Empress Theatre here in Vallejo, CA. to produce a show.
(FYI…the Mira theater is wonderful and the acoustics are amazing)
Please allow for me to say here that I am not the type of person that [sees or hears] objects that go bump in the night. I feel the energy or the apparition. I am very sensitive to that.
I must also make note that what I felt that day wasn’t in the Green Room and it was at around 9:30AM that day. The room was in the South Hall, maybe the next room past the Green Room.
The energy felt heavy, not low vibration, but somewhere in between.
It was very overwhelming/strong, and one of the questions I asked the tour guide Richard was: “Is this place haunted?” He smiled and said… yes.
That was enough confirmation for me as to what I had just experienced.
They didn’t show me the basement…
