A chambermaid named Sarah was said to have been walled up here by the Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins. Sarah is a good soul with a good sense of humour, described as being short, blonde, and in an old chambermaid costume.

Hi my mam use to own the fox and fiddler but back then it was called the boadicea, this was 1990, I was then 4 years old and Sarah was a regular visitor at the bottom of my bed, my mam thought I had a imaginary friend when I described Sarah with her long blonde hair pinny floopy hat and pointy boots until my mam finally seen Sarah herself, she would cause all sorts of mischief from changing the restaurant cutlery from right handed to left she would pinch and hide the pub keys, she would tie my grandma’s tights in tight knots, she would run straight through you on the stairs and send you flying, a fire occurred in the pub one night and caused alot of damage, Sarah got very angry after this happened and would stand outside my mam and dad’s bedroom door and cackle they would hear plates smashing all night long in the upstairs kitchen but nothing was ever on the floor when they went to check, after the pub was renovated they found a hidden room that hadn’t been opened for many years inside the room was a big old tree trunk, the local newspaper came and did a article on the fire my mam and also my friendly ghost Sarah, my mam still has the newspaper clipping today, it realy is amazing to hear Sarah still resides in the pub after all these years and is still as mischievous as she was back then.
