  1. The Independence Heritage Museum located on 3rd Street is definitely haunted. Previously it was the town’s Baptist Church, but the paranormal happenings are based on spirits attached to objects that they owned when alive. I volunteered there and was there during a paranormal investigation one evening. Plus I’ve witnessed when the public comes in and tells us of strange, ghostly events that happened during their visit twice. Visit if you live close, its a great museum !!

  2. I have experienced paranormal activity at Independence Elementary School. I was walking in the halls and this was after it closed down and all of a sudden a door slams and no one was in the hall with me

  3. The house on the corner of Monmouth Ave and 6th. Is also haunted. Used to live there. Every night. There was a loud screeching echo that would start in the kitchen, work it’s way through the bottom floor and then move up the stairs and end at the top next to the bathroom.

As a kid. We used to hear a banging noise on the bathroom windows. Enough to to make us scared to go in there alone. Mom used to tell us it was the trees outside, that the branches were just scraping against it. We believed her.

It wasn’t until we were older and had thought about it that we realized that the trees that were outside were no where near the windows. When we confronted mom about this. She simply said “how else was I gonna get you to go in there? Telling you the truth wouldn’t have made it any better.”

I believe the house is tan with red trim now.
