The ghost of a 12-year-old girl named Laura who was killed in a fire in the 1800s is said to haunt the historic 1875 Inn, once called the Tilton Inn. Her apparition has been seen by many guests, and the inn has been featured on TV’s Ghost Hunters. Author David Pitkin used a picture of Laura for the cover of his book, New England Ghosts.

  1. My husband and I lived and worked at the onion in 2011. My husband had a daily interaction with Laura. She’s playful to annoying. We lived in one of the old staff apartments. On the other side of our bathroom was our neighbors bathroom. We experienced very cold spots and paranormal activity. From things being thrown to us being pushed in the shower. Lights off and on to the TV coming on when unplugged. Any thing plugged in were unplugged at night due to them coming on. Heavy stomping foot steps were a constant problem. No one ever came to the third floor unless they lived up there. Standing in the hallway you hear the stomping but there was never anyone there. We heard it on night while watching TV and feeling intense cold come through the wall through your skin. I watched a young man jump through a solid wall to his death. There was no body. I lived there 4 months. I had enough. I told my husband I’m out. Since then I’ve never been back.
