Sycamore Church Cemetery

You are here Home  > Cemeteries >  Sycamore Church Cemetery

Supposedly if you sit on a bench that’s in the cemetery you will feel a cold spot (probably not seeping up from the concrete bench) and someone breathing behind you.

  1. As a follow up to my previous comment I had keyed in the wrong road on the GPS. I was under the assumption the church and cemetery was located on Sycamore Rd but it’s actually located on Carrie Mitchell Rd. I’ll have to make a trip back there sometime

  2. Greg,
The church is on Sycamore road. Carrie Mitchell road is a little country road the runs down beside it. The address is 152 W Sycamore Rd, Picayune, MS 39466. Carrie Mitchell road is named after my Grandmother, and the road across from it is called George Mitchell road, and that one is named after my Grandfather. As for the cemetery being haunted, I use to play in it, and walk through it every night going to church and from church to my Grandmothers house that is right behind the cemetery. There is a concrete bench that is sitting by one of my family members babies grave. When you sit on it for a while, you can feel a draft, and it feels like someone or something is behind you, and you can feel something messing with your hair. I was told that it is the baby wanting to play, or the mother of the child protecting the baby. I have only felt the emotion you get from the loss of a child. It was a very lonely and empty feeling. I am not sure if the bench is still there. I have not been back in the cemetery in many years. I may swing by there just to see if it is still there, and if I can pick up on anything.

    • Elizabeth,
Carrie and George Mitchell are my grandparents too. Who is your parents? I always was at my grandmother’s house and don’t remember anyone named Elizabeth hanging there with us. Did you go by a different name? As for the grave. The grave is a baby that my Uncle lost and they barried there. The babies mom passed a few years ago and the babies dad just passed. I always played in the graveyard and always walked through it at night going to church and back. Shoot me a email. My email address is
