Shanghai Tunnels - Portland Underground

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Shanghai Tunnels - Portland Underground

These tunnels, once used to smuggle alcohol during prohibition and even people in an illicit slave trade, are part of an underground city beneath Old Chinatown. Because of their rich history in illegal activity, these tunnels are said to be active with spirits of all kinds.

    1. i cant believe nobody has commented on this place. Its amazing. The history is beyond crazy but i went with a group of friends on the tour and my mom actually had somebody touch her hair!

    2. The leaders of the tour prime the tour goers so heavily its no wonder people claim experiences. These aren’t tunnels, it’s just basement areas beneath nightclubs, with the accompanying noise.

Also, the history is disputed. The ‘owner’ is adamant that he owns your private pictures and anything and everything relating to the ‘tunnels’. Local historians are iffy say to the actual use of these areas for shanghaing and the truthfulness of the stories told.

I’ve been there and I was sorely disappointed. There were no real experiences, just talked up coincidences told by staff.

    3. Went there years ago. While I was there I heard someone moving a box of bottles. No one was in the corner where the noise came from. No one else heard it.
