You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Orman House

The 1838 house was built by merchant and civic leader Thomas Orman, and now sits in Orman House Historic State Park. Local legend says although the land is now publicly owned, some of the Orman family members may never have left it. Witnesses have heard unexplained footsteps and sounds in the night.

  1. Had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Andrews the last member of family to own house. She though she had info on gold buried there. I looked for some time with a detector but never found anything except Cut Nails. There was evidence someone else had been digging. Was an interesting afternoon. I believe she was from New Jersey. She also told us stories of the ghost that inhabit house.
