Orange County Regional History Center

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Orange County Regional History Center

The Orange County Regional History Center is located in what was once the Orange County Courthouse. The building was built in 1927, and is infamous for being the place where serial killer Ted Bundy was tried for the murder of Kimberly Leach in 1980. The name “Ted Bundy” can be seen carved into the table at which he was sitting – whether or not it was he who actually did the carving is up for debate.

Weird things happen in the building, objects move and levitate, and some blame Bundy’s ghost. Other see ghostly lawyers, waiting for trials that finished decades ago.

On our honeymoon, my husband and I took a nighttime tour of this location and while we were in the big courtroom, I snapped a picture of the back of the room. The only people in the room when I took it were me, my husband (who was behind me) and our tour guide (who was a young Asian female, and also behind me). In the picture you can see a figure of a man sitting in the back row of the room. It looks almost like you can see the molding around the middle of the room through him.
