Old Red Eyes - Kingsley Plantation

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Old Red Eyes - Kingsley Plantation

According to local legend, an angry red-eyed ghost lurks here, a remnant of the area’s past. The plantation was built in 1813 by Zephaniah Kingsley and grew cotton, sugar cane, citrus and corn. Kingsley had 60 African slaves, one of whom, named Ana, he took for a wife. Kingley moved his plantation to Haiti in 1837, but something stayed behind. Folks say it is the ghost of an evil slave who was hanged by the other slaves for harshly abusing and even killing some of the female slaves. Now the terrifying mist or apparition with red eyes roams the grounds. Also seen is the ghost of a woman in a white dress, believed to be Ana Kingsley. A child’s ghostly screams also are said to come from the well, where a child once drowned.

  1. There one night about two a.m. My boyfriend gets out of the car to smoke a cigarette. I stayed in the car with the Air running Next thing you know he shines his flashlight In the bushes A few minutes later he gets in the car and we began to accelerate and noticed fog only on the driver side window was writing in the fog . Two nights earlier, bout the same time, by the church he said “Who.”..and someone clear as day repeated it.

  2. I’ve had to many to tell. Let me start with losing 7 hours and have no memory of those 7 hours I walked in the woods for a minute is what I thought. Seeing and smelling a fire in the slave houses. A white rusty truck with a man with red hair and glasses try to run us off the road kept chasing us. There’s only one way in one way out he was trying to get us on that dirt road. Idk how we got away he just vanished me and my sister was talking and told each other are scariest stories and 20 years b4 me the same truck same man everything the same it was crazy. And I have many more. But the worst is me and my son and boyfriend was walking the shore line and I found a human arm bone it was crazy so I’m gonna take it and turn it in well not even 2 minutes later my son was on a tiny stump and fell and broke his left arm in half it was hanging down like a rubber band arm it was crazy. I could go on forever been going there since I was 17 house on haunted hill where it takes u to the stair way to hell it goes down 2 miles in the woods and that’s where the slaves did there vodoo and that where I lost the 7 hrs the bleeding tree the person hanging from a tree so many crazy stories I could tell u.. Definitely haunted big time
