It is said that this location was built on the site of a graveyard and/or near a pagan temple; the tunnels beneath are said to be haunted in connection with this. The ghost of Anne De Moresby is said to be here as well as that of a cavalier seen by the fireplace.

  1. It was 7 or 8 years ago and we had a family meal here for my great uncle’s 80th birthday. We sat in the seating area next to the fire and waited for our table to be set and once we were seated we had a lovely time. I needed the toilet and left the room, I walked out the large wide doors towards the stairs and on my left hand side i saw out of the corner of my eye a person which I think was an elderly man and when I looked again taking a second look he was gone….. It spooked me to my bones and I practically ran to the toilet after that…. but I am grateful to have this expirence as it made me think about the other side differently … Strangely my 80 year old uncle also had a fall that night in the hall and bruised his face but could not remember much about it … I wonder …..
