Minneapolis City Hall

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Minneapolis City Hall

The turn-of-the-century Minneapolis City Hall building is said to be haunted by John Moshik. In 1898, he was convicted of murder and his hanging was botched, forcing him to endure 3 minutes of slow strangulation. As a result, no more hangings occurred here. Now, folks have seen his apparition or shadow throughout that floor (the fifth) as well as hearing noises and footsteps.

    1. Man that 5th floor is a spooky place at night, it was used as the maximum security jail for Hennepin County, I was put on that floor and had to spend 30 days there, there were noises all night long in the hallways, footsteps when no one was walking around, shadows moving around, sounds of doors opening and closing at night, NOT a fun place to spend 30 days at!!

    2. I stayed there for a week due to a sentence I had to complete. In the middle of the night, the toilets would flush several times by themselves. The lights would flicker off and on and one inmate was even thrown on the floor while he slept. I never fully slept, only with one eye open. This place is crazy.
