You are here Home  > Theaters >  Liberty Theater

The historic 1925 theater has played host to the likes of Jack Benny, Guy Lombardo, Duke Ellington and Al Capone. It’s home to a ghost nicknamed Handsome Paul, who appears suited up for a night out. The apparition of an elderly woman has been seen as well. The ghosts are known to turn on the soda fountains and popcorn machine in the night, and puzzled employees find them running in the morning. Other spooky phenomena have occurred here: Knobs rattle, doors knock, items move, etc.

  1. I stayed in this one, pregnant with my first son, in early 1980, with his dad up on the third floor, Room 307. about 1:30 am I woke up to something I could not see pulling the blankets off the bed. My son’s dad sat up asking why I was doing this, when he noticed I was still in bed, looking dumb-founded. He started to say something, when the closet door flung open, and a non dimentional grey-ish mist floated out and the out the door. The next morning, we could not find our bag we unpacked after getting settled into our room.

  2. My husband and I volunteered for 3 years there 2016-2019. Our first night volunteering I was standing at the foot of the stairs in the lobby and I felt something pull my long hair.no one was behind me.
