  1. My best friend and I had a long over due girls trip and stayed here. We had some very strange experiences in our room. The first was our bathroom light turned in in middle of night. Second was a very dark heavy felling in our room”second night” I had seen at same time a dark shadow in our room move across the corner of our room. And last the last night I heard l running water off and on all night along with the sound of a pill bottle being used or taken over about a 10 minute period. Thought it was our neighbor but come to find out we were at corner of hotel and we had no Neighboor as it was a closet next to us. The strange thing is I had no idea this place was haunted until we went home. I googled the hotel and found this out. Thought I would share my experience

      • About 10 years ago we stayed at La Playa and had no idea the hotel was haunted. In the middle of the night I was awakened by the spirit of a lady trying to make contact with me. She was black and only half of her body could be seen above our bed. I yelled and woke my husband which made her disappear. Anyway following morning I asked the staff if the hotel was haunted and they laughed and said they’d heard a few stories but made light of it. Thank God we stayed only 1 night

  2. I worked from 2003-2011 at the La Playa, the original building is where most of the activity is reported. rooms like 219 or in the 300s above the front desk.

  3. Oh my! Had no idea this place was haunted, but stayed here a few months ago and had an experience I always wondered about. A FB post and google search just led me to this page. Anyway, while staying here one night, I had left the window open because of the nice gentle breeze. This breeze later became more violent and started whipping the curtains. In the middle of the night I was awoken by this force that had me pinned down in my bed unable to move or shout. After a few moments I was released. I had the feeling my visitor was pissed about the window being opened so I closed it and things were fine the rest of the night. I’ll try to figure out which room it was and add that later, but it was on the main floor south of the front desk overlooking the courtyard toward the ocean(away from Camino Real) Super strange. I wondered about this place since and I guess now I know…
