James A. Garfield National Historical Site, former residence of president James A. Garfield, is believed to be haunted by Garfield's wife Lucretia. Security personnel have heard Lucretia walking upstairs at night and she has been known to turn lights on after the guards turn them off. She also is said to have tidied up each night when renovation work left the place a shambles.

I have been able to see spirits since I was 6 years old. When I was in the 6th grade we took a school trip here and I got real uneasy feeling and while all the students went upstairs out in the barn. I did not go. And while I was standing there an axe fell of the wall with a quick glance I seen a man that looked like a field worker standing there at the bottom of the stairs then he disappeared just as the other students were coming back down. I never mentioned it to anyone till years later
