Henderson State University is said to be haunted by the ghost of a student who fell in love with a girl from a rival college. His friends made fun of him, and under pressure from them, he broke it off with her. The girl was heartbroken and committed suicide. As legend has it, the girl’s ghost comes to visit every year during homecoming week. She is known as the “Lady in Black.”

  1. There is a ghost in Arkansas Hall at HSU named Simon. I was at band camp just after my 6th grade year getting ready for a concert. I put my Cymbals down to go get my mallets and when I came back they were gone. Simon took them.

  2. Theatre major at HSU, I can verify that Simon is very real… Heard him myself tonight with some classmates as we were finishing our projects on the AH stage. Started out innocently enough but when he started banging on doors and theatre seats we turned tail and got out of there. Guess he was upset about something.

  3. I know a story: It was a while back and this black man named Sid was working on railroad work in Stanford, California, and a man came up behind him with an axe and smashed him in his back, killing him almost instantly. Now they say that Sid walks up and down the railroad at night holding a lantern, in search for his killer. Mo-ha-ha-ha
