A part of the park system since 1935, Fort Clinch is one of the most well-preserved 19th century forts in the country. Although no battles were fought here, it was garrisoned during both the Civil and Spanish-American wars. During the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps began preserving and rebuilding many of the structures of the abandoned fort.
Legend goes that a Civil War soldier stationed at the fort wrote his dearly beloved a letter in which he promised not to die until he saw her again. Unfortunately he died there during a Confederate ambush, and some say his spirit (and perhaps several others) haunts the fort to this day.

I visited this fort in april and i felt very strangely the entire time. Like someone was following me during the time i was walking on the fort.
