A painter, restoring one of the hotel’s hallways, felt numerous cold spots. It is said that the spirit of Mary Coffey, who was shot in the back and paralysed by her husband in their room at the hotel in 1889 still resides here. The vision of a woman has been seen repeatedly.

  1. I was in Leadville a few days ago and when I was walking around I smelled something rotting. When I kept trying to stiff it out. I the become very nauseated and sweaty. I had to go outside and sit. After a few minutes I went back in, around same area and the smell was gone but then as I walked around it appeared again. I told my husband and kids we are leaving and not to buy anything. My question is. Has this happened to others there before?
