Books are said to fall off of their shelves, employees are grabbed or have their clothing tugged, and people have the sense that someone is always watching them.

  1. I’m a former employee of this library, before Covid and when the library got refurbished I worked there and when in the childrens section after 6pm I had the feeling I was being watched. Occasionally my colleagues and I were tugged or pulled.

I worked as Reference and later Chief Librarian at Dartford, and have written articles on its history and undertaken many guided tours. I was around when Most Haunted made their “investigation” which was pure made up nonsense. Often I was alone at Dartford Library in the Winter evenings, as I was a member of Dartford Historical & Antiquarian Society and stayed behind after the library’s closure, to then attend meetings. At no time did I ever experience anything without a natural explanation. Most Haunted was a laughable programme of people screaming in the dark and finding nothing except their own pranks for television. Believe me, when I saw the programme, I saw that the whole thing was ridiculous and I never wasted my time watching it again. It was for entertainment.. Dartford Library did have a much older ghost story but that is another story.
