  1. The site was purchased by a local politician that wants to bring peace and beautification to the inglewood neighbourhood where this eyesore has sat rotting closed since 1993. The site once housed an Indian hospital which has rumours of torture. All Indians from western and northern Canada went here that was sick. After the turberculosis scare in the 70’s it also started to serve the area as a public hospital. It still served the native communities. Staff and patients where moved to the royal Alex and this hospital closed it’s doors. The hospital remained in tact but closed till it was bought in 2005. It went through many owner changes and parts where gutted and parts left un touched. Even a film used the 2nd floor in a Canadian comedy in 2004.

This building has been gutted. It’s sub buildings have been torn down and the lot is being rezoned into ra3 which is residential appartemnts. The hospital is today being frammed for condo units.

    Would you live here knowing:

    It tortured people.
It took people from there families
It didn’t return the dead to there families. They buried them 10km north in St. Albert in unmarked graves. The area today is marked with a huge memorial.
It buried its lies when it closed. Today living past patients are speaking out.

The entire lot should have been retilled and the buildings removed. The lot should have been turned into a community park with a memorial reminding people of what was done here since the 60’s.

I won’t be surprised if once people start moving in if spooky stories will start to surface.

Completion of the hospital to apartments expected 2019. Framing of the old psyc ward has completed. All windows been replaced. A garden is planned where a grave is suppose to have once existed where dead native children are said to be.
