This place, formerly Vito’s Pizzeria and Lounge but no longer open for business, was said to be haunted by a former owner who hanged himself on the premises when the building was a private home. Chairs were said to move on their own, and a shadowy apparition was known to shoot through the dining room.

  1. Just an FYI, in 2014/2015 500 N. Ashley St is going through some renovations. I personally have not visited, but I’ve heard stories from others who have, including a plate that was thrown off a table that nobody was standing near. Maybe it will be open again for business soon.

  2. When I was 10, I had ridden past this very place and I swore I saw a rope at the front door entrance….to this day I still swear I had seen it, I live about an hour and a half from valdosta

I have stayed many nights in this house when the late Ms Bell was owner and former wife to Dr Bell. My grandfather Ed Lightsey and “Aunt Bell” were “very close” friends. I have experienced “Casper” as my grandfather would call home some not so pleasant experiences. If I’m not mistaken Dr Bell also performed abortions in this home.

  5. My Uncle Rob owned Vito’s pizzeria. A year or two ago, it was being remodeled and we went inside. There was a huge tombstone inside that read “David Bell” with a birthdate but no death date. Also, it was a very slow day and the door was being held open with a 5-gallon bucket filled with boulders and when we stood in the middle of the room, the door slammed.
