Built in 1882, the Victorian house at 206 N. Broadway St. was originally a private residence, but was a school and a boardinghouse for women until the 1970s when it again became a private home. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a 19-year-old who was shot and killed at 2:30 a.m. during a party here. It was then purchased by Seth Magosky, a history buff and John Wilkes Booth impersonator who intended to turn the house into a museum, but he died suddenly in 2007.

  1. I lived in this house as a boarding house for girls. You were either going to school or working. It was very nice. I was there about a year. The house was spooky. I never had or did not know any one there that had antifungal experience s.

  2. My husband and I viewed this house in the 90s when it was on the market. We had toyed with the idea of converting the home to a B&B. Can’t say that I thought the house was haunted per se, but there was a certain energy in some rooms of the home. Hard to describe. Not necessarily malevolent, but not protective, either. If anything, I would describe it as observant. Really weird. We knew nothing of the history of the house when we viewed it- have to say that we are glad that we passed on it!

  3. I have stood in the tower room. I was with a few others. We all felt a little dizzy. Rather like standing on a ship with choppy waters. Also went in the basement. That was the only place I felt any energies.

  4. This place is definitely haunted. I attended a meeting at this house The meeting was taking place in the kitchen I went to use the bathroom which was near the front of the home. While I was in there something flew against the door. When I came out of the bathroom a large bucket was laying outside the bathroom door. When I got back to the kitchen I congratulated who ever threw the bucket, but I told them they didn’t scare me. No one knew what I was talking about. No one had left the room. I have a lot of other stories. It is a VERY haunted place.

  5. i went there about three or four years ago….and i felt watched ….and i went to a room which was called the doll room full of dolls and i couldn’t stay long because of they feeling i got in the room….then while i was there all i wanted to do was go to the basement …..and my father wouldn’t let me because he felt something quite evil ….i to this day feel a pull to the basement

  6. Can anyone please tell me the name of the boarding house that this used to be? I think my sister used to live there. Thanks.
