The ruins in Old Fort Park have always been a bit of a mystery. Why would the ruins of an old Spanish fort be here, where there was never a Spanish settlement? Perhaps the only one who knows the answer to the enigma is the site’s ghost. Witnesses say the apparition of a 16th-century Spanish soldier can be seen at the ruins, facing the horizon as if waiting for a ship.
