The Lookout Inn

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  The Lookout Inn

The appropriately named hotel used to be an actual lookout along the Mississippi River. Some say parties can be heard going on in unoccupied rooms, and cold spots and unexplained noises have been noted by guests. There is also a bathtub that fills itself, reported to be linked to a murder that happened here.

  1. I stayed here with my girlfriend and another friend of ours back in December of 2014. We stayed in the Bollywood suite and our friend stayed in the Elvis suite which was right above us. The first thing we noticed was every morning we were awaken by the cockadoodle of a rooster, which was very strange for this Bywater area. On the second night we came in to discover a mouse had also been sharing the room with my friend upstairs, who at this point couldn’t get much sleep after seeing it. The same night at around 4:00am I was awaken by what I thought was a car crashing into the building as I felt the entire house shake. I thought for a moment that I had just been dreaming, but my friend upstairs quickly called my phone and asked “Did you just feel that?”. At this point I knew it wasn’t a dream at all. This had me so wound up, I lied in bed trying to stay awake. About an hour later, just as my eyes started getting heavy, I heard the most blood curdling scream, however it did not sound like a human scream. To this day I cannot describe it nor can my friend who stayed upstairs from us, but we know what we know that we heard it. Unfortunately, my girlfriend slept through the whole ordeal and has no recollection of any of it.
