  1. My husband and I happened to stop in for drinks and had a great time meeting the staff and ended up spending the night. They put us in a room on the second floor with a hot tub. We had dinner in the room and shortly after that I was really sick and I don’t believe it was the food or drinks as nothing was out of the normal for me. I was sick and in the bathroom all night long cold and shivering. When morning came, my husband had to literally carry me down the stairs and put me in the car. We didn’t even checkout, we called them when we got home to pay the bill. I slept for the majority of that day, but when I woke up I was ok. In the 20 years of marriage to my husband I have never been so stricken so fast. The staff there is very nice and treated us very well.

  2. Stayed in this hotel on the second floor two summers ago and will never stay again. Very strange feeling on the second floor. Was watching the tv that was in a cabinet and fell asleep. When I woke up soon after the doors on the cabinet were closed. Couldn’t sleep after that at all.

  3. On one of our visits to Door County Wisconsin, we stopped at the Karsten Hotel to check the place out. I thought at some future date we might stay there, so on our trip back home, we stopped in. The staff were very welcoming. I asked if we may tour the upstairs. We walked through the second floor, everything was fine, peering into several of the rooms– beautiful! Then we went to the third floor. Things changed. I became very nervous; overwhelmed with a need to leave NOW! I cannot explain this. It has never happened to me before. I was actually tugging on my husband’s arm begging him to leave. It’s a beautiful hotel, but I will never stay there. That feeling on the third floor was overwhelming. It is my understanding that the third floor was the residence of the original owner and no one was allowed up there. I guess he still doesn’t want anyone there.
