Those who work there claim there are many ghostly occurrences within its walls. Rocking chairs that rock on their own, doors that are opened by an unseen hand and other unexplained phenomena have lead some to conclude that Sturdivant is haunted by its former master John Parkman.

    1. In 1981 I attended a wedding held on these grounds.I was sent by the bride to go upstairs to get her veil. I had read about this house in ‘ Alabama;s 13 Ghosts’. And I took the opportunity to roam the rooms upstairs. As I moved from one room to another I felt a presence following me. I turned and retraced my steps trying to catch a glimpse of the ghost. As i approached the stairwell I felt as if I was pushing someone upstairs. I started up the stairs and half way it turned pitch black and I heard a voice (more inside my head than outwardly) “DONT COME UP HERE!” I said ok I wont. The stairs led up to an attic area and a widows walk. .While the wedding was going on I was compelled to look back up to the attic area and ‘knew’ a figure was watching, even thought i didn’t see it.
